Our History

A North Carolina Accounting Firm

LBA Haynes Strand was founded in 1987 and is a result of eight acquisitions and three mergers in the past ten years.  Most recently, the largest merger to date combined the firms formerly known as LB&A Certified Public Accountants, PLLC, and Haynes Strand and Company, PLLC.  The merge, which became effective on December 1, 2014, created a three-office CPA firm with locations in Greensboro, Matthews, and Mount Airy, NC. With a staff of approximately seventy, LBA Haynes Strand has evolved to serve North Carolina clients by hiring, growing and promoting the most talented individuals.

Our principals and managers each have their own areas of expertise, which adds to the growing strength and reputation of the Firm. Our leadership team also has experience working with the nation's largest national and regional accounting firms. The professional and technical services clients receive are designed to feel like a much larger organization but with the nimbleness and responsiveness of a smaller firm. Our principals and managers maintain a constant and close degree of client involvement. We are committed to supporting each member of our firm and our clients, in an atmosphere of respect and trust.

Our senior professionals, who have significant accounting and auditing knowledge, are strongly equipped to serve our clients.  With this in mind, we are committed to returning team members to the same engagements each year to build trusted professional relationships with our clients that encourage communication and support year-round.  This continuity benefits both clients and staff by preserving and protecting the technical and institutional knowledge, controlling costs, saving time, and making sure clients are working with trusted professionals who have a clear understanding of their unique goals and strategies.

LBA Haynes Strand is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), and the AICPA Private Practice Center.
